FNE Parade and visit to the Thornhill Village Festival

The Thornhill Village Festival is a yearly event that allows us as a movement to be seen in public as a relative and vibrant movement for the youth who live in our local community of Thornhill and area.

We received many compliments from members of the public as to how sharp our youth and their leaders looked in their uniforms with event organizers expressing their pleasure of our continued involvement in this popular community event.

The day dawned bright and sunny after heavy rain and winds the day before.  We invited our Timber Wolves to carry the flags of our FNE/FSE movement... we had no shortage of volunteers!

Our flag represents a number of key factors that our youth and leaders take comfort in and proudly and with confidence  such as:

The eight points on the cross represent the 8  Beatitudes - the sermon on the mount by Jesus:

The red in the cross represents the Blood of Jesus shed for all men so that the gates of heaven could be open and we could be saved...as illustrated on the crown of thorns...

The yellow lily represents the light of Jesus and a source of direction used by sailors many years ago...

The black on the flag represents Night and the White represents Day... we fly our flag 24 hours a day while at camp as our program experience is continuous... white also represents love and black represents the opposite... meaning that prepared Explorers know that there is evil out there... we learn how to recognize good from bad and stay away from the bad knowing that at the end of time that goodness will win out over evil.

Our timber wolves, explorers, and leaders happily participated in the parade while acknowledging the well wishes from the many bystanders present that day...

Our flags helped set us apart from others present that day....

As the parade progressed so did the number of spectators...with much warm applause from the public...

Afterwards 4 timber wolves and one explorer joined Akela for a walk around the festival... the photos tell the story well..

If the hammer is too big... get your brother timber wolf to help you...

But some of us had the strength in us to lift and swing the hammer....

Well if I ever want to be a fireman when I grow up I have lots of room to grow into my bunker gear!

look Mom... I am all ready for action...

Can you guess who I am....

Look Ma... no cavities...

Perhaps the food that I just ate was a little too spicy... where is the water to out the fire out!

We stopped by the local Ukraine Catholic church to visit with Jesus in the Tabernacle to say hello and talk to  Jesus!

We stopped by the Petting Zoo to have some fun...

Always looking for a snack from a friend!

We always look after the little ones to be sure that the big ones don't push the little ones away just like in real life...

Even goats can learn tricks when it comes to their favorite food...

Did we have a great time.... YES we did!
