Explorers ... Helping Others - Why bother?

Hi, my name is John, and I am the Patrol Chief of Fox Patrol in our Explorer Troop.  Last month I participated in our regular Patrol Chief Council meeting where our Troop leader issued to all of us a challenge… as youth leaders in our troop, how will you reach out to help each other succeed to do a good job or for that matter how can your brother Explorers help each other?

To tell you the truth my first reaction was one of… why does this matter, I have my patrol to look after and you have yours.  I already have my hands full, I don’t need more work to do!

Almost as soon as this thought crossed my mind our Troop Leader caught us by surprise by informing us that he would be away for the next six meetings due to time needed to recover from surgery.  This meant that the two remaining but lesser experienced leaders would run the troop, but like “Polar Bear” said… that they really need our help to make it work!

Faith = happiness, faith = love, faith = joy and faith is awesome!

Timber Wolf thoughts and reflections on the meaning of faith and how they reach out to show Jesus their love for him....

"Faith is happiness, love, friendship with God, playing, singing to the Lord and going to Mass every Sunday."

"Faith is to believe in God. For me faith is a bigger word for believe. To me faith means that you have a trust in someone."

"Faith means a lot to me. Faith in Jesus brings me joy. My faith in Jesus has changed me so much. I’m happier and more calm. My faith has brought me closer to Jesus. Whenever temptation appears to be too strong I pray Jesus to help me. Faith has brought me achivements. Faith is like a trophy!"

"Faith = happiness, faith = love, faith = joy and faith is awesome!"

A visit with the Saints – 1st Class Relic’s

Monday evening December 17 was an extra ordinary one for our FNE Timber wolves when Angie Carboni came to visit the timber wolves with a significant number of first class relics associated with a number of well-known saints.

3 Timber Wolves save life of a 2 year old boy!

In July of 2012, a family from the 1st North Star group was holding a summer party at their house which backs up to a lake.  There were many families, and many young children at the party, and as a rule, the little ones, or anyone going out on a canoe or kayak needs to wear a life preserver. Young 2 year old Gerry was wearing one that afternoon, but at some point, another child must have asked him if he could wear his and took it off of him.

Why Am I an FNE Explorer?

Reflections offered by a number of our Explorers and in one case by a Wayfarer Explorer …

By Assistant Patrol Chief of Wolf Patrol - San – age 14

We live in a world where almost anything goes.  This makes it hard to see what is good and what is bad. However Christianity teaches people the crucial differences between good and bad.

FNE Parade and visit to the Thornhill Village Festival

The Thornhill Village Festival is a yearly event that allows us as a movement to be seen in public as a relative and vibrant movement for the youth who live in our local community of Thornhill and area.

We received many compliments from members of the public as to how sharp our youth and their leaders looked in their uniforms with event organizers expressing their pleasure of our continued involvement in this popular community event.

Girl Timber Wolf and Explorer First Ever Summer camp!

Forecast for 7-Jul-12 Thunderstorm --> Cloudy --> Clear Sky

Our first day of camp started with gray sky which was followed by heavy rainfall. Albeit this less than optimal weather, our group gathered at the Blessed Trinity Parish and attended mass together. When mass was finished, everyone had arrived.  Our entire group consisted of 3 leaders, 8 Timberwolves and 4 Explorers. 4 parent volunteers tagged along.

An experience of a life time - World Youth Day - Madrid Spain

World Youth Day - Madrid Spain - August 2011

Our movement both here in North-America and in Europe is very much focused on service, to help, to make a positive difference in the lives of others while growing ourselves as an individual and as a FSE/FNE family.

Running a WYD is no small feat... the logistic's, coordination, facilitation and more is a huge undertaking that requires many many hours of service and effort.

Special evening at Summer Camp - Carrying the Cross followed by Mass and Eucharistic Adoration!

What might it have been like for Jesus to carry his cross almost 2,000 years ago on the road to Calvary?  Jesus wants us to meditate on his Passion so that we might better understand how much the Lord suffered for each and every human being ever created by God now and until the end of time.

Our Timber Wolves, Explorers and Leaders carried around a life sized cross together to help like Simon did, to pray, to reflect on the Lord's passion.  See the photo's below... it was and continues to be a very moving experience that helps draw each and every one of us ever closer to Jesus our Saviour!

Summer Camp - Prayers and Holy Mass - the start of our day

Each day our timber wolves and explorers (separate) gathered to start our day with daily prayers along with confession before all gathering together for Holy Mass. These photo's highlight some of the special moments that help convey our boys love and trust in our Lord.

Radio Maria June 2012

The attached radio show (Radio Maria) is a real uplifting example of the innocence of children and how strongly the Holy Spirit works through them to reach others... if you can spare the time please listen to this particular show... it will give you much encouragement that the future of our church will come from children such as these FNE Timber Wolves.
Over a number of months and years we have been faithfully recruiting and then bringing a number of our timber wolves, explorers and leaders down to the Radio Maria Station to host a month Radio Show known as "Youth Forum".
